Abstract
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to determine a change in dynamic stability according to lower extremity muscles fatigue with Y Balance Test.
Methods:
A total of 47 students participated in this study(29 males, 18 females; age 19.00±1.12 years; height 171.70±8.87 cm; Rt leg length 87.00±5.96 cm; Lt leg length 87.10±5.89 cm). Y Balance Test was measured before and after of fatigue protocol to test a change in dynamic stability of lower extremity.
Results:
The result showed a no significant interaction between the time of measurement(after fatigue as compared with before fatigue) and groups(male and female). There were significant decreased between the times of measurement to anterior right leg(p<.001), anterior left leg(p<.001), posteromedial right leg(p=.011), posteromedial left leg(p=.010), posterolateral left leg(p=.014), total score right leg (p<.001) and total score left leg (p<.001). The result of score of Y Balance Test after fatigue as compared with before fatigue, showed significant differences between genders to posteromedial left leg(p=.045), posteromedial left leg(p=.031).
Conclusions:
This study suggested that muscle fatigue of lower extremity changed score of Y Balance Test that represented dynamic stability of lower extremity for both male and female.
